    Mission and Areas of Focus   
    Mission:
    The IHMC was established in 1990 as an interdisciplinary research unit of UWF. Since that time, IHMC has grown into one of the nation's premier research institutes investigating a broad range of topics related to understanding cognition in both humans and machines. IHMC provides UWF an internationally recognized research presence in artificial intelligence, cognitive science, philosophy, psychology, computer science, and related areas under the general rubric of what has become known as Human Centered Computing.
